The executive director of UNAIDS, Michel Sidibe, said last Friday in Havana that they will help Cuba to become the first country to eradicate the epidemic "as a threat to public health."
"We are very proud of what Cuba has done in the fight against HIV / AIDS," said Sidibe, “its commitment has allowed the island show "relevant" results and be on the "cutting edge" in health care in the region.
Cuba was the first country to demonstrate that HIV transmission from mother to child can be eliminated, which the international official recognized as a result of "commitment" of the Cuban government in confronting the disease.
