French frigate arrives in Cuba for friendly visit
F-735 Germinal, a surveillance frigate of the French National Navy, arrived this Sunday in Havana for a friendly visit till the 16th.
The ship, with some hundred sailors, was received by Ship Captain José Luis Souto Galindo, deputy Head of Department of the Cuban Revolutionary Navy (MGR by its Spanish acronym), and French Ambassador to Cuba Jean Marie Bruno.
During the first day of the visit, the French crew laid a floral wreath at the Cuban National Hero Jose Marti statue in the Central Park, in Havana.
They will pay courtesy visits to the Head of the MGR and the presidency of the Havana's People's Power Assembly, and tour different social and cultural sites.
The commander of the "Germinal," navy captain Michel Vaxelaire, said upon his arrival this visit aims at strengthening the friendship bonds between Cuba and France, and learn of Cuban culture.
"We are used to sail on the Caribbean Sea and aid to the countries in the area in case of natural disasters" he said.
