A new jewel for the meteorological precision have Nuevitas

"Like a jewel", the synoptic, climatological and of surface station of this riverside city; qualified it the Doctor Tomás Gutiérrez Pérez, general director of the National Institute of Meteorology, when leaving inaugurated the work, dedicated to the birthday 76 of the General of Army Raúl Castro Ruz.
In the inauguration act of the modern installation were also Julio Cesar García Rodríguez, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in Camagüey, other Government's leaders, workers of the Port of Tarafa and neighbours of the place who offered their contribution in the restoration of the Station.
Now the territory of Camagüey has modern centers of this type in Florida, Esmeralda, Guáimaro and in Nuevitas. Also people continue working to incorporate technological improvements in those of Santa Cruz del Sur and the city of Camagüey.
This program, prioritized by the Cuban Government, has as objective to offer the population the efficient and opportune meteorological information, based on the early alert to prevent the loss of human lives and damages to the economy before natural disasters.
In the inauguration act of the center, also dedicated to the near anniversary 54 of the assault to the Headquarter "Moncada", were also the Doctor Fernando González Bermúdez, minister in functions of Science, Technology and environment, and the First Secretary of the PCC in Nuevitas Francisco Almeida Peña.
