Mexico s Yucatan State Art Institute opened a new space for ballet teaching and training on Monday, named after Cuban prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso.
Under the direction of Erika Camara Riezz, the hall was opened with a ceremony attended by the ballerina, who is the Cuban National Ballet director, and unveiled a plaque in her honor.
Officials, cultural and religious figures, a large representation of Merida press, and Cuban ballet figures also attended the ceremony.
