Runners from 41 nations have confirmed their participation at the upcoming Havana Marathon, scheduled for November 19 to mark Physical Culture, Sports and Recreation Day.
Marathon technical director Carlos Gatorno told ACN that the annual race will count on the participation of newcomers from the Cayman Islands, Hungary, Rumania and Tunisia, a fact which reveals the interest in the event around the world.
Many participants will also come from Nordic countries, while Cuba will be represented by some 300 athletes, Gatorno said.
Although the registration process for the event started a month in advance to check information on the database at the Sports, Physical Education and Recreation Institute, the process keeps working through e-mail and telephone services, said the official.
