Wampi Energizes the Stage in Peru: "Taking 'Reparto' to New Heights"

Friday, May 17, 2024 by Zoe Salinas

The young Cuban reggaeton artist Wampi brought his unique flavor and rhythm to his concert in Peru, sharing clips of the performance on his social media. "This is the vibe in Peru. Taking 'reparto' to another level," he stated in a post shared on his Instagram account a few hours ago, where he also expressed gratitude to his manager. "More to come, Cuba in the house," he concluded in the post, which shows him singing on stage at the concert, which was reportedly sold out.

Prior to this, Wampi had shared another video of his arrival at the airport. "Ready to rock," he announced at that time, and he certainly delivered.

Upcoming Festival Appearance

On May 24, Wampi will also be performing at the first edition of the Festival del Reparto in Barranco, Peru, where he will share the stage with other artists like Alexander Abreu and Es El Dray, among others.

A few months ago, social media was abuzz with debates about the origins of 'reparto' as a genre and whether it originated in Cuba or Peru. Among the many Cuban artists who chimed in with their opinions—such as Nesty, Mawell, Charly & Johayron—Wampi also voiced his stance on unity and support, thanking the Andean country for embracing these urban sounds.

"Don't pay attention to the negative things. I am proud that Peru and all the countries around the world can identify with 'reparto,' a genre we all know where it came from. I am proud of the colleagues in the genre who strive and work to take our music to another level. Thanks from the bottom of my heart, we will continue to make music from Cuba to the world," he said last March.
