Ernesto Cordoví, who recently posted an explicit and uncensored image of a deceased pregnant patient's intestines on his Facebook wall, was forced to remove the post due to widespread criticism.

Last Friday, Cordoví, who serves as the director of Hijas de Galicia Maternity Hospital in Havana, published the controversial images after Janet Zulueta Curbelo, the mother of the deceased young Cuban woman, accused the doctors of negligence and poor care in a public complaint.

Cordoví, known as an enthusiastic YouTuber and "revolutionary" cyber warrior, faced backlash for violating medical ethics by sharing graphic images of the surgical procedure and confidential medical details of the deceased woman. Before he deleted the post, it had garnered more than 300 comments on Facebook, many condemning the unnecessary and cruel use of explicit photographs by a healthcare institution's leader.

Details of the Incident

Laura Castillo Zulueta, 29, was 25 weeks pregnant and was taken twice on Wednesday, May 15, to Hijas de Galicia Maternity Hospital, where she was "mistreated and poorly attended to," according to her mother’s heartfelt Facebook post. She noted that Laura experienced negligent care, including an altered urine test that was not properly addressed. Faced with the lack of professionalism at the hospital, she urgently transferred Laura to the National Hospital, where despite the efforts of the staff, Laura passed away.

The platform YoSíTeCreo en Cuba issued a strong statement regarding Laura’s death, accusing the state of mishandling the patient's private information. They expressed concern over the inaccurate and contradictory data circulating on social media about the events leading to Laura's tragic death. YoSíTeCreo en Cuba emphasized the need for a thorough investigation to establish personal, familial, and institutional responsibilities in this case. They highlighted that maternal death could involve serious offenses, including gynecobstetric femicide, and called on the government for transparency and justice in this complex case.
