The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (MINCEX) has dismissed rumors about suspending the export of products by Cuba's small and medium-sized enterprises (Mipymes) and all forms of non-state management (FGNE), including private entrepreneurs.

"We categorically deny these unfounded claims. We want to clarify that MINCEX has not issued any directive to suspend the exports of FGNE, including self-employed workers (TCP), agricultural producers, and other economic actors," the ministry declared on the social media platform X.

Additionally, the Cuban state agency reaffirmed its commitment to fostering and expanding exports. However, their statements come at a time when the country is experiencing a severe crisis, with extremely low production levels in key sectors of the national economy.

In its brief statement, MINCEX confirmed that Mipymes and other forms of non-state management could continue exporting their products from Cuba, aiming to increase the number of exports.

Last week, the Cuban regime appointed Oscar Pérez-Oliva Fraga as the new Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, replacing the veteran intelligence officer Ricardo Cabrisas (87). Pérez-Oliva Fraga, the grandson of Angelita Castro and nephew of José Antonio Fraga Castro, has a direct family connection to Fidel and Raúl Castro.

Before becoming minister, Pérez-Oliva Fraga served as the Director of Business at the Mariel Special Development Zone and was the First Deputy Minister of MINCEX.
