Cuban singer Osleny Hernández delivered a heartfelt tribute to his late grandmother, who passed away three years ago, during his performance on the American TV show Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento, capturing the judges' hearts.
Hernández, who resides in Hollywood, Broward County, Florida, chose the song Como Quien Pierde una Estrella by composer Humberto Estrada Olivas and showcased his talent in front of the panel. His emotional rendition, shared by the show on Facebook last Wednesday, clearly moved the audience.
Regarding his song choice, the 23-year-old medical student explained that he had promised to dedicate that song to his grandmother if he ever had the chance to perform on a TV show. "In Cuba, I never had the opportunity due to the country's situation. When I arrived in the U.S., I started taking singing lessons. Many times I was told no, but my grandmother always supported me, saying, 'Go ahead, work hard, and you will achieve what you want,'" the young singer noted.
Hernández, who works as a dispatcher for a trucking company two to three times a week, shared this touching story about his grandmother's unwavering support, further winning over the judges' hearts.
The Cuban singer received nods of approval from all the judges, along with numerous praises and applause from the audience.
Singer Don Cheto told the young man, "I must acknowledge that not only do you have the look, but you are also an artist, and I give you my vote."
Recently, another Cuban, Alexander Capote, won over the judges on Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento with his rendition of Cuando yo quería ser grande, a song famously performed by Vicente Fernández. Mexican singer Ana Bárbara praised his performance with a beautiful compliment: "You have the best voice of the season."
Another standout Cuban performer on the show was Giraldo Morelio, a rafter who arrived in the U.S. leaving his daughter in Cuba. He captivated the judges with his emotional story and voice, earning the opportunity to continue in the reality show.
