A large group of bikers gathered on Sunday in front of the San Juan Methodist Church, located near the central Parque Céspedes in Santiago de Cuba, to worship and praise God. The initiative was spearheaded by Pastor Darlon Bermúdez, who took the lead in blessing all the vehicles parked in the street in front of the church. Following him, a female congregant anointed the motorcycles.
"Fourth Sunday service, 4:00 pm, this time we prayed for the bikers of Santiago, urging them along with their bikes, to ask the Lord to keep them from all harm," Pastor Bermúdez wrote on his Facebook profile.
According to independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada, it was a special service held by the Christians for all motorcycle riders, in response to the rising number of accidents in the province.
"It was a glorious service where the motorcycles and helmets were anointed, and prayers were offered for God's protection from all evil and danger. Most importantly, all the bikers who attended accepted Jesus into their hearts as their only Savior," stated a Facebook post cited by Mayeta on his wall.
The post indicates that this is the first time a religious group has invited workers and vehicle drivers to pray for them.
