Lisandra Rodríguez, the 'Cuban Amy Winehouse,' Hits Back at Con Filo: "I Stay Silent Out of Fear"

Tuesday, May 28, 2024 by Christopher Ramirez

Lisandra Rodríguez, known as the 'Cuban Amy Winehouse' due to her striking resemblance to the late British singer, has lashed out at the hosts of Con Filo for using her as part of their show, suggesting she supports the government.

In comments posted on the show's Facebook page and later in several videos on her profile, Lisandra clarified that she is not associated with Con Filo. She emphasized that she despises that "little show," does not support their deceit, and that if she doesn't speak out publicly, "it's out of fear."

"You bunch of disrespectful people, tell things as they are. Why the heck didn't you do a show saying I got fired from my job for going viral on social media? They ordered me to be fired. Stop tarnishing my image with these kinds of programs, I hate that show. I will never in my life support your falsehoods. I am real," wrote the young Cuban.

Con Filo used Lisandra's previous tense exchange with journalist Ernesto Morales as a basis for defending her, stemming from her desire to avoid political topics. In a previous video dedicated to Morales, Lisandra told the journalist that he and his family should go to the island to fight for Cuba's freedom, but that she was not Mariana Grajales.

The response pleased Con Filo, who quickly used her as an example, something that—judging by her reaction—upset Lisandra even more than her disagreement with Morales.

"Let it be very clear that I am not in favor of anything here in Cuba, and if I don't speak out, it's out of fear. But I'm tired of being dragged into this mess. Stop the game and don't involve me in politics, I'm not in favor," she added in a comment that remains on the show's Facebook page.

"Stop the disrespect and take me out of your show, which by the way, I detest. Don't mix me up with anything related to your falsehoods," she reiterated in a second comment.

In the two videos about the issue that Lisandra, the 'Cuban Amy Winehouse,' posted, her stance was even more emphatic.

"I am not in favor of anything, so don't involve me in your political show because I am not for anything. Therefore, I earnestly ask you to remove me from all these programs because I don't want to participate in any of them," she insisted.

"To the people at Con Filo, please take me out of your show. I don't like it, and in fact, it's the show I detest the most on television. I have nothing to do with this. I am not in favor of this," she said before concluding that they also tend to use people "for their own purposes."

Lisandra's response was applauded by Morales, who concluded that the young Cuban, who clearly speaks her mind, "wiped the floor with the undesirables of Con Filo."

Lisandra Rodríguez's fame skyrocketed in early May when her remarkable resemblance to the late British singer became viral in independent media outlets. Her physical similarity to the tragic artist is enhanced by her gestures, poses, and unique style, which she skillfully leverages to highlight the likeness.

However, her sudden fame and public gratitude towards independent media resulted in her being abruptly fired from the bar where she occasionally worked as a waitress in Old Havana. She justified the act, saying she worked there "without papers," but the incident was interpreted as a political reaction.
