Cuban Baseball Player Yadir Drake Gifts Sneakers to Yucatán Lions Stadium Maintenance Team

Yadir Drake, the Cuban outfielder for the Mexican Baseball League (LMB) team Yucatán Lions, recently gifted sneakers to the stadium maintenance crew. "We are all one family here," the Lions shared on their Instagram account, accompanied by a video of Drake personally handing over the shoes to the workers.

"Yadir Drake today gave our maintenance team members pairs of sneakers for their work on the field," the post said. The humble and noble gesture was greatly appreciated by the stadium employees, who happily posed for photos with the Matanzas-born athlete after receiving their new shoes.

"This motivates us to keep going and to work even harder every day," one worker said. "You really helped us out," another added.

Drake has been with the Yucatán Lions since 2019. Born on April 12, 1990, Drake left Cuba in 2011 on a boat bound for Mexico, where he began playing in semi-professional leagues. In 2014, he signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers in Major League Baseball (MLB). He then returned to Mexican baseball with the Durango Generals, where he won the LMB batting title in 2017, and subsequently moved to Japan to play for the Nippon Ham Fighters.
