The Antonio Guiteras power plant in Matanzas was taken offline for approximately 30 hours due to an oil leak in the generator's lubrication system. According to José Miguel Solís, an official journalist specializing in the sector, the plant was stable but operating at a limited capacity of 215 MW.
Engineer Rubén Campos Olmos explained that the repair is expected to take about 30 hours before the plant can rejoin the National Electric System (SEN). Additionally, a planned shutdown of around four days will occur soon, allowing the plant to generate 280 MW during June and July.
"If the SEN had forecasted a deficit of 895 MW today, we should add the 210 MW that the Yumurino block was supplying at that time to this figure," the reporter noted.
