After years of unsuccessful attempts and just hours after celebrating their fifteenth European Cup, the Spanish club Real Madrid announced this Monday the signing of French star Kylian Mbappé, who is currently regarded as the best footballer in the world.

Mbappé, 25, and the universal king of the 2018 Russia World Cup, joins his new team as a free agent after not extending his contract with Paris Saint Germain (PSG), which expires on June 30. The signing was made official on the social network X, marking the first acquisition for the 2024-2025 season for the "merengue" entity and ending one of the longest transfer sagas in football history, following several negotiations and the unwavering attention of Florentino Pérez, president of Real Madrid.

According to various specialized media, the lethal forward signed a five-year contract and will be presented after the conclusion of the Euro Cup, scheduled from June 14 to July 14. Only then will he return to the pitch of Santiago Bernabéu and be cheered by his new wave of supporters.

Nevertheless, Mbappé didn't waste any time: he recorded a video for X and made his first gesture to fans on Instagram: "A dream come true. Very happy and proud to be part of the club of my dreams @realmadrid. It's impossible to explain how happy and excited I feel at this moment. I can't wait to see you, Madridistas, and thank you for your incredible support. ¡Hala Madrid!"

According to the newspaper As, the goal scorer will have a staggering salary of 15 million euros net per season, and he will also receive a signing bonus of around 100 million. This makes him the highest-paid player on the team! However, it's worth noting that he earned 72 million at PSG, a figure almost impossible for most clubs worldwide to match. Now he will surpass the salaries of stars like David Alaba (12.5 million), Vinicius Junior (12 million), and Jude Bellingham (11 million), given that Toni Kroos (13.5 million) is retiring and Luka Modrić (11.5 million) took a pay cut in his recently updated contract.

Additionally, the Frenchman will retain all earnings from previously signed image or advertising deals, and for future agreements, 20 percent will go to the club, according to the aforementioned Spanish newspaper.

All this occurs amid the excitement of Real Madrid after winning - yet again - the Champions League. With goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius, the team led by Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti proved to be the true kings of Europe, defeating German side Borussia Dortmund 2-0 at Wembley Stadium in London.
