A massive fire has completely destroyed the Supermercado Nacional in Hialeah, located at 5400 Palm Ave, near 55th Street. The city's Fire Department reported that an emergency call was received on Sunday at 8:06 pm from a witness who noticed black smoke coming from the back of the store.
Videos shared online showed flames erupting from the building's roof. According to the firefighters, the supermarket had already closed when the fire broke out, and fortunately, no injuries were reported. Together, they managed to contain the flames, preventing them from spreading to adjacent businesses.
The Instagram account Only in Dade revealed that the fire started in the supermarket's kitchen. However, the official cause of the blaze has not yet been determined as the investigation is still ongoing. After extinguishing the fire, firefighters established a watch, and units were still present at the scene on Monday.
"The fire is still being worked on at critical points, and the state fire marshal's office has not yet been able to enter and conduct their investigation," the Fire Department told Telemundo 51.
