Cubana in Miami After Moving from Tampa: "I'm Struggling Tremendously"

Tuesday, June 4, 2024 by Emily Vargas

A young Cuban woman who recently relocated to Miami from Tampa has shared her experience in the city through the popular trend "soy cubana," a challenge among people from the island that highlights customs and behaviors they identify with. The Cuban, known as @clautapia98 on TikTok, used this trend to discuss the hardships she is facing after moving to Miami, struggling to find a job and paying a high rent for an efficiency apartment.

"I am Cuban living in Miami and, of course, I can't find a job. Since I don't have a car, I have to walk everywhere. I live in an extremely expensive efficiency. Everyone tells me to go out and walk to find work, but I can't find anything. When I lived in Tampa, I had a job, and everyone told me to come here, and now I'm struggling tremendously," she said in her video.

In response to her words, many encouraged her in her job search, offering their support. "Keep fighting, I'm also in Miami," "Keep fighting, you can achieve anything in life, and we Cubans always make it," "You're in the right place, you'll see," and "Stay strong, you'll find something soon, the beginnings are tough," wrote some of the commenters.
