A violent brawl in a neighborhood of Holguín culminated in the tragic death of a young Cuban man, according to Cazador-Cazado, a profile known for its close ties to the Ministry of the Interior (MININT). The information, shared on Facebook, detailed the incident that took place on the afternoon of June 5 in the Ramón Quintana neighborhood of Holguín.

The altercation began between two young men who eventually left to arm themselves with knives to settle their dispute. Each returned with weapons and a group of supporters, but their confrontation was interrupted by a passing police patrol responding to a different call. The presence of law enforcement caused the groups to scatter.

Two companions of one of the initial combatants found themselves in a dead-end street, which provided an opportunity for Jorge Ramón Martínez Ramírez—the other party in the conflict—to fatally stab one of the youths. "He had a knife and plunged it into the chest of one of them, who died on the spot," the post reported.

Within hours, and with the help of local residents, authorities managed to apprehend the perpetrator. The profile emphasized that it was a "regrettable incident, where the deceased was not the instigator of the dispute. Examples like this show the potential deadly outcome of such fights," the publication stated.

Rising violence in Cuba continues to claim lives. On Friday, the body of a young man who had been missing for a month was found, presumably murdered, in Granma. In May, another man was fatally stabbed on a street in Santiago de Cuba.
