A man who had been missing for four days in the wilderness of Holguín province was fortunately found alive this Monday. After continuous hours of searching, José Ricardo Mendoza, a resident of Marcané in the municipality of Cueto, was rescued at the entrance of Orozco in Barajagua, days after he vanished from his home, according to a report from the Facebook profile "Realidades desde Holguín," associated with the Ministry of the Interior (MININT).

The incredible story began when Ricardo left his home on Friday afternoon intending to visit a friend but never arrived at his destination. Once his family reported his disappearance to the police, a search was organized, which took place day and night in areas of Barajagua and Marcané by authorities, friends, relatives, and other concerned individuals, according to the post.

Ricardo's disappearance might have been due to underlying "psychopathological conditions that affect his memory and cause disorientation," the report noted. During the days he was lost, Ricardo survived by eating "what nature offered him" until he was found "in poor condition due to the days missing," the profile highlighted, while emphasizing the discovery as "a triumph for everyone."

Ricardo was taken to the Marcané Hospital for a medical check-up. "Everything will be fine with him; he is now in safe hands. Thanks to each person who made this act of love possible," the post expressed.

Days earlier, a notice from Ricardo's family requesting information to locate him had been circulated on social media. The man works at the transport base next to the CUPET in Marcané, Cueto, according to his wife Gladis and his nephew Víctor Manuel in their plea for help.
