A man lost his life and another sustained serious injuries in a collision between a truck and a car in the municipality of Guanabacoa, Havana, on Monday. The tragic accident occurred at the intersection of Santo Domingo and Estrada Palma streets in the Havana locality when a Fiat Polski car failed to heed a "Stop" sign and was struck by the truck, according to a Facebook post.

"Unfortunately, the Polski driver passed away, and the passenger is in critical condition," the post's author stated, extending condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

Members of the group "Accidentes Buses & Camiones por más experiencia y menos víctimas!" commented that crashes are frequent at that intersection because most drivers do not stop at the "Stop" sign. Some even reported that there are three signs at that corner indicating the need to halt before proceeding, but many drivers ignore them.

Another tragic accident this past weekend claimed the lives of three young people and left another critically injured while they were returning home from a concert by reggaeton artist Yomil Hidalgo at the Bariay club in the city of Holguín.

Journalist Cuscó Tarradell was also involved in a traffic accident on Saturday night in Santiago de Cuba, suffering minor injuries.

Last Friday, Noelvis Entenza González, a pitcher for the Matanzas baseball team, had a car accident when the vehicle he was traveling in with his family overturned as they were heading to celebrate his mother's birthday in Matanzas.

At the beginning of the month, a severe accident in Camajuaní, Villa Clara, resulted in the death of a Cuban and injuries to 26 Canadian tourists who were traveling from Cayo Santamaría to Abel Santamaría International Airport in a Transgaviota bus.

In 2023, the country recorded 8,556 traffic accidents, resulting in 729 deaths and 5,938 injuries.
