The National Weather Service (NWS) in Miami and South Florida continues to issue flash flood warnings for the city. The agency announced a new flash flood advisory via its Twitter account, covering Miami, Hialeah, and Miami Beach, effective until 4:15 PM EDT. "Flash flooding continues across much of southern Broward and northern Miami-Dade! A SIGNIFICANT flash flood warning is in effect until 4:00 pm," they stated in another tweet.

Social media users have already shared photos and videos of cars struggling through heavy downpours. "Starting to flood..." wrote a local resident on social media.

Previously, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) indicated that a trough over the eastern Gulf of Mexico is expected to bring heavy rainfall to Florida.

In Miami, particularly in Downtown, Brickell, and Hialeah, sidewalks and roads have been flooded since Tuesday afternoon. Authorities warn that there is a low probability of a tropical depression forming off the southeastern coast of the United States, but it is essential to stay alert through the end of this week.

Increased Rainfall Expected

Precipitation is expected to intensify in the coming hours. The heaviest rains are forecasted near the Gulf Coast from Wednesday night through the end of the week. There is a risk of localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas along the eastern and Gulf coasts, as well as in flood-prone or poorly drained areas.

The detected system has remained almost stationary in recent hours but is expected to move northeastward, crossing Florida and heading towards the southeastern coast of the country. Although upper-level winds are only marginally favorable, some slow development is possible as the system moves offshore. Regardless of its development, heavy rains are forecasted to persist in parts of the Florida peninsula over the next few days.

Authorities recommend that residents stay informed about weather conditions and take necessary precautions to avoid incidents related to flooding.
