A violent altercation erupted Saturday night at a street party in Santiago de Cuba, resulting in a tragic outcome: one individual was injured, and another, identified as Dagner Lara Villalón, an 18-year-old, was killed.

Independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta reported on Facebook that the incident occurred on the bustling Trocha Street, where both young men were assaulted with bladed weapons. They were subsequently transported to the Joaquín Castillo Duany Military Hospital.

According to Mayeta, one of the injured individuals underwent surgery at the medical facility, although his current health status remains unknown. Meanwhile, Lara succumbed to the injuries he sustained.

Mayeta noted that images sent by followers depicted severe injuries. The young man resided in the Agüero neighborhood, near the José Martí Urban Center.

“The mother of the slain young man is named Yuleidi Villalón Suárez and works for the Government of Santiago de Cuba, as do other members of the family,” the journalist pointed out.

Lara's father, who works at a gas sales point, received the heartbreaking news of his son's death on Father's Day, Mayeta added.

Additionally, Trocha Street remains closed as of Sunday, with forensic teams cordoning off the area to investigate details that might shed light on the incident.

Mayeta also requested that anyone with information that could help identify the assailant(s) contact him via social media.

Recently, a mass brawl involving groups of youths took place in Havana, resulting in disturbing images of gangs armed with machetes and bladed weapons, as reported on social media.

The events unfolded around the area known as Finca de los Monos (Quinta de las Delicias), in the Cerro municipality of the Cuban capital, during a festive activity apparently organized by the Union of Young Communists (UJC) to kick off their summer campaign.

Following the mass brawl at Finca de los Monos, the government claimed that the incident was related to an unauthorized event; however, the space was indeed promoted by state television.

Araiz Torres, a worker at RTV Comercial as described on her Facebook page and linked to Klatus Creativo, an initiative that organized the cultural event Habanarte at Finca de los Monos, promoted the event on television and shared the announcement on her social media profile.
