Monday, June 17, 2024 by Ethan Navarro

A crane truck driver, who ignored a "Stop" sign at the intersection of 100 and 51 in Marianao, Havana, fatally struck a young man crossing the street on Monday, according to preliminary reports.

In the tragic traffic accident, the victim was crushed by the heavy vehicle's wheels, as shown in photos posted by communicator Yosmany Mayeta Labrada on Facebook. Although pixelated, the images are shocking due to their rawness.

"Crane truck runs the stop sign at 100 and 51 in Marianao, Havana, and crushes a young man crossing the street," Mayeta stated in one of the initial posts about the accident.

Musician Saúl Manuel shared a video on his Facebook profile showing the accident scene, where the victim can be seen under the wheels of the crane truck.

As of now, the identity of the person who lost their life, presumably due to the driver's negligence in not respecting the traffic signal, remains unknown, according to preliminary reports.

However, local residents claimed that there are traffic lights at that intersection, not a "Stop" sign.

Many internet users agree on criticizing the irresponsibility of drivers who do not follow traffic laws, endangering their own lives and those of others.
