Unique Cuban Phrases to Express Hunger: "I'm Wounded" and More

The charismatic Cuban TikTok star, Alejandro Buján, recently shared a video highlighting some of the ingenious ways Cubans express that they are hungry. Buján, known for his content on the peculiarities of the Spanish spoken on the island, shared with his followers a series of expressions that demonstrate the linguistic richness of Cuban popular speech.

"I'm so hungry I can't see straight," "I'm crossed," "I'm wounded, and it's not from a bullet," "I'm flying," "My stomach is stuck to my backbone," "I'm broke," and "I'm facing away from the pot" were some of the phrases he chose.

The video, posted on his TikTok account, generated hundreds of likes and comments from his followers who were quick to respond to his question about which phrases he might have missed.

"You missed: I'm split"; "I'm out of the pot"; "I'm broken by the bread box"; "I'm green"; "I'm starving"; "I'm hungrier than a flea on a plastic dog"; "I'm off the stove" or "I'm famished," were some of the contributions left in the comments on the video. What would you add?
