The Cuban pilot of the crop-dusting plane that crashed while performing fumigation tasks in Sancti Spíritus remains stable but still hospitalized. Armando Leyva Sosa, aged 57, sustained a minor cranial trauma and a blood pressure imbalance when his PZL M-18 aircraft, commonly known as "dromedary," crashed into the rice fields of La Sierpe.

So far, Leyva Sosa remains under observation at the Camilo Cienfuegos Provincial Hospital, with no reported abnormal results or symptoms from the tests conducted. Dr. Alexander Concepción, head of the surgical guard, explained to the newspaper Granma that "the patient is stable, well, with no changes in blood pressure, heart rate, respiration, or temperature..."

Radiographs of the chest, abdominal ultrasounds, and other tests confirmed that he has no multiple pulmonary injuries or internal organ damage. Leyva Sosa expressed his gratitude for the care received, first at the La Sierpe polyclinic and later at the provincial hospital.

His aircraft belongs to the National Air Services Company (ENSA). The plane crashed on Thursday morning near the town of Peralejo. Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, the Cuban Minister of Transport, revealed that a commission from the Civil Aviation Institute of Cuba is investigating the causes of the incident.
