The government of Santiago de Cuba took action this Saturday by deploying police forces and shutting down private businesses on the central Trocha Street, in an attempt to curb potential violence.

On June 15, a violent altercation in this well-known urban area resulted in the death of a young man, prompting the regime to enforce restrictive measures aimed at providing "security" to the populace, as reported by journalist Yosmany Mayeta on Facebook.

"This Saturday, the government of Santiago de Cuba met with owners of restaurants and cafes located on Trocha Street, which have been closed for several days by governmental decision," Mayeta explained.

However, he clarified that while the regime has yet to officially announce the reopening of these businesses, Saturday night saw "dozens of police officers deployed at the Monument to the Red Devil."

Despite reports that officers patrolled the entire avenue "to create an appearance of safety," residents noted that the "tension" in the area was palpable.

The police deployment came exactly one week after a violent street fight on Trocha Street during a block party, which left two people injured, one of them fatally.

"Violence continues to plague the city's streets; apparently, two young men were severely injured and taken to the Joaquín Castillo Duany Military Hospital," Mayeta reported, sharing several images of the incident.

The victim was later identified as Dagner Lara Villalón, who was only 18 years old at the time of his death. Dozens of people mourned the incident, which has become all too common in the city, often involving young individuals.

Recently, another young man was murdered at a party in Holguín, adding to the relentless wave of violence sweeping across the country. The incident occurred during a recreational activity at the Monte Feria social club in the Antilla municipality.

Just days earlier, a mass brawl erupted at a festive event in Finca de los Monos, Havana. The regime attempted to distance itself from the incident, claiming it was unauthorized, despite being promoted by state television.
