Elderly Cuban Couple Strolls Through Havana, Celebrating Over 50 Years Together

Carlos and Isabel, an elderly Cuban couple whose love has endured for more than half a century, were recently photographed while walking hand in hand along the Paseo del Prado in Havana, the same place where they met over 50 years ago.

The photographer Kaloian shared a beautiful gallery of photos on Facebook last Thursday, showcasing the affection and care between Carlos, 99, and Isabel, 82. "They slowly and carefully climbed the steps of the Paseo del Prado. He helped her, offering his arm for support. Then, they held hands and walked together, step by step," Kaloian described in his touching narration of the scene captured through his lens.

"They were strolling, smiling, and whispering to each other. They were accomplices and in love, walking through Havana," the photographer recounted, noting that this pair of eternal lovers used to meet at the Prado when they were courting, before going for a walk.

The post has garnered a flood of comments, many celebrating the couple's enduring love.

In 2023, another heartwarming love story captured the attention of many: an elderly couple met in a nursing home in Camagüey. After being struck by Cupid, Caridad Belén (69) and Oneido Maryn (81) decided to tie the knot.

Maryn shared his courting strategy. "A little flower every day, until she fell into my net," he said with a laugh, having been widowed for five years.

"He thought he would live a quiet life, that no one else would approach him, and I felt the same. I came here to rest, to find peace, and I found this," Caridad said with a mischievous smile.
