The Center for Weather Forecasts of the Institute of Meteorology of Cuba (INSMET) issued a warning this Monday about the potential for showers, rain, and thunderstorms, particularly in the western and central regions of the country, due to a tropical wave.

The daily report from this government entity states that "most of the country will be cloudy, with showers, rain, and thunderstorms occurring in the west and center, where they could be strong, and more isolated in the eastern part."

Additionally, the report indicates that in the western and central regions, maximum temperatures will range between 29 and 32 degrees Celsius. In the eastern region, temperatures could reach up to 34 degrees Celsius.

Regarding the winds, they will be weak and variable. The note specified that there will be slight waves on the north-eastern coast, from Cabo Cruz to Punta de Maisí, as well as in the southern part of the Península de Guanahacabibes and the Isla de la Juventud. The seas will be calm in the rest of the coastal areas.

However, it warned that in areas experiencing showers and thunderstorms, wind strength and wave height could increase.

The special municipality Isla de la Juventud woke up this Monday to abundant rain, according to the official Islavisión. "It's raining heavily," the outlet noted, accompanied by images showing the downpours.

Various parts of the territory recorded precipitation this Sunday, due to the presence of a trough, as reported in the weather forecast broadcast by Cuban Television.

According to meteorologist Elier Pila, the highest accumulations occurred in the central and eastern parts of the island. He mentioned that the weather station in Manzanillo, in the province of Granma, recorded 51 millimeters of rain.

The local station shared some images on Facebook showing the rainfall in that locality.

It has been raining in Cuba in recent days. For instance, this past weekend, several municipalities in Havana experienced flooding due to heavy downpours.
