Relatives of the esteemed Cuban musician and composer Adolfo Guzmán are reporting severe water leaks in their residence, located in the penthouse of the iconic Focsa building in Havana. According to them, it's practically raining more inside than outside.
Laura Padilla Guzmán, one of the granddaughters of the celebrated pianist and orchestra director, reached out to CiberCuba in desperation, as she has no idea who else to contact to resolve their dire situation. She explained that they live on the 29th floor and are enduring extremely difficult conditions, with water seeping through the entire ceiling and chunks of it falling off.
"There are elderly people and two children living in my home, and at any moment, a piece of the ceiling could fall on them, yet no one is taking action to fix the problem. Our furniture is getting soaked, my grandfather's piano, his bust; we can't find a place in the house to keep things dry," she described.
"They have been fixing the roof for eight months, and now it's worse. This situation is unbearable. We asked the building manager to move us to another apartment and take the penthouse himself, which is where I live, and supposedly they approved it, but we're still in the same place. With all this rain, it's wetter inside than outside," she added.
