An animal protection group is seeking assistance this Sunday to raise the 16,500 pesos required for surgery on a puppy that suffered a radial and ulnar fracture after falling down stairs. Yenney Caballero shared a post on Facebook showing the injured puppy and informed that, "Stabilizers need to be placed and left for four weeks."

According to Caballero, the surgery, scheduled for this Monday at 4:00 PM, requires raising 16,500 pesos to cover the necessary medications, including antibiotics and post-operative anti-inflammatories, for seven days. She called on people to gather the funds, stating, "In these surgical cases, unity is crucial; the important thing is to achieve a positive outcome."

The activist, who has shown unwavering support for animal rights and welfare on numerous occasions, emphasized the importance of collective effort in such situations. Recently, an animal protection group in the province of Villa Clara sought help on social media for a puppy that suffered a spinal fracture.

"You deserve all the beautiful things in this world, my Milagros," said Daime Pérez Ramírez in the Sociedad Protectora de Animales en Cuba Facebook group, while requesting donations of diapers, Desitin cream, wet wipes, and any contributions for the puppy's recovery.

The scarcity affecting Cubans also greatly impacts pets, as their owners often struggle to provide food. This situation led two elderly individuals who run an animal shelter in Sancti Spíritus to ask for help on social media to feed the 20 dogs they protect.

The ARCA Sancti Spíritus Foundation posted a message on Facebook informing that Esperanza and Guillén, who manage the shelter, had gone 15 days without receiving their allotted food rations, prompting their plea for assistance.
