Security Camera Captures Thieves Stealing Bicycle at Las Tunas Bar

Tuesday, June 25, 2024 by Ava Castillo

Cubans are seeking assistance to capture two men who were caught on a security camera stealing a bicycle at a bar in Las Tunas. "This is a short video of a theft at the Bar Restaurante 55 located on Maceo 55, between Lico and Martí, leaving a hardworking woman from the bar without her means of transportation," reads the description of the security footage shared by Facebook user Roberto De Jesús Pérez.

The clip shows the two men, who appear to be young, waiting for the right moment to steal the bicycle from the establishment. Initially, one of them stands at the entrance, keeping watch while the other commits the theft.

"These big guys dedicate themselves to stealing from those in need who work and need to support their families, while they usually steal to drink alcohol on any corner," the post warns.

Amid the scarcity that Cuba is experiencing, the increase in crime keeps the population on edge. Due to the inefficiency and negligence of the authorities, some people are finding ways to try to catch the criminals by installing surveillance cameras. These cameras have allowed residents to identify the culprits who act with total impunity.

A few weeks ago, surveillance cameras installed in a house in Havana captured a man entering the property at night and stealing a washing machine from the yard. Danay Zerquera shared the video on her Facebook wall and requested help to identify the thief.

Additionally, a man was caught on a security camera at the exact moment he entered a café in Santiago de Cuba and stole a cell phone. The affected person reported the theft on Facebook and asked anyone with information about the thief to get in touch immediately.
