Part of the facade and roof of a house located on Calzada del Cerro in Havana collapsed this Wednesday, adding to the series of building collapses that have occurred in recent days in Cuba. The property, a two-story 19th-century mansion, is situated at number 1360 on the bustling avenue, between Patria and Saravia streets, and has been at risk of collapse for many years, according to local residents.
Fortunately, no fatalities or injuries were reported as a result of the collapse.
"Calzada del Cerro and Patria. Every time I pass by here, I say it’s going to fall, and part of its structure finally did. There's been a lot of rain lately, too much humidity, and when the sun comes out, that's when it happens," noted a post in the Facebook group Municipio Cerro.
