As the clock neared noon on Wednesday, a motorcyclist violated traffic laws, causing two people to fall off their motorcycle. Fortunately, they only sustained minor injuries, according to one of the victims who shared the incident on the Facebook group "ACCIDENTES BUSES & CAMIONES por más experiencia y menos víctimas!".
User Lisy Almenares reported the event, which endangered her life and that of her husband. She urged others to be aware on the road, respect traffic signals, and show empathy, as the offender fled the scene.
The accident occurred on Calzada del Cerro in Havana when the driver, accompanied by a woman, ran a red light, causing two people on another motorcycle to fall. The victims ended up with "a sprain and a few scrapes, a broken mirror, and some plastic parts damaged."
"I hope karma and life teach you, without wishing you harm, that when you make such mistakes and cause damage, there are consequences. Today it was us, but tomorrow it could be you or her," wrote Almenares, criticizing the lack of conscience and shame, since the offender chose to flee.
"You should have stayed and helped," she added. "Maybe you would have felt at peace with yourself if you cared about people's lives, but you fled like a scared sewer rat, like the unscrupulous wretch you are. Thank God my husband didn't find you because you weren't even worth it."
Almenares also thanked those who did help and called for respect for traffic lights: "It's only a minute at most that you have to wait, and that time is worth a life and the future."
