A man has been arrested following a brutal machete attack in an attempted robbery in downtown Holguín. The pro-government Facebook page Cazador Cazado, closely associated with the Ministry of the Interior, reported that the incident took place on June 21 around 11:00 PM, near the city’s children's park.

According to witnesses, the victim was sitting on his motorcycle, chatting with another person when he was approached by Octavio Pavón Castañón, who attacked him with a machete. The assailant attempted to steal the motorcycle, as well as the victim's gold chains and cellphone.

However, Pavón Castañón was swiftly apprehended by authorities, bringing an end to his brief escape attempt. The law enforcement acted quickly and efficiently, ensuring the assailant’s detention, the source emphasized.
