Pickpocket Sentenced to 10 Years for Theft on Havana Bus

A man who attempted to steal a cellphone from its owner on a Havana bus has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. According to a report aired on the Mesa Redonda television program, the incident occurred on a P12 bus around 4:00 pm while it was traveling along Avenida Boyeros and Calzada del Cerro.

When the victim realized the theft, the bus driver stopped the vehicle and kept the doors closed. A passenger then made a call to the stolen phone, quickly identifying the thief. Upon being discovered, the pickpocket did not back down and pulled out a knife in an attempt to escape, but he failed.
