Héctor Labadí Hierrezuelo, a director of a Youth Club in Santiago de Cuba and recent victim of a violent attack at his home, expressed his gratitude on social media this Sunday to those who saved his life.

"I take this morning to first thank God, the young man and neighbor who saved me, my eternally beautiful family, the medical team at the Military Hospital, my wonderful workers and provincial director, and my lovely friends," Labadí wrote on Facebook, as he recovers from a brutal stabbing that occurred a few days ago.

The director mentioned that he has also received countless expressions of affection from his friends abroad, "since those damned assassins tried to take my life."

Labadi stated that he will soon return to work, strolling down Enramadas Street, and joking with everyone he meets along the way.

Journalist Yosmany Mayet, who has been following the incident, reported on Facebook this Sunday that the reasons behind the attack are still unclear, and there is no certainty about the number of people involved.

According to the journalist, the Youth Club workers posted the first photos of the alleged attackers, but "left a lot of doubts because they had identified as the attacker a young man who has been out of the country for several months."

"On several occasions, I have contacted the victim to learn firsthand what happened, but he has declined to respond, leaving the questions unanswered," Mayet said.

Social media has reported various incidents of violence, highlighting the need for increased security measures in the community.

Last Tuesday, a man slashed the face of his partner, a young teacher, in the city of Santiago de Cuba. The victim, Tatiana Alcolea, is 24 years old and the mother of two small children from a previous relationship.

Also recently, a man was killed on Thursday in a fight in Songo la Maya, a municipality in Santiago de Cuba.

In April, a foreigner was stabbed in the same city, with robbery appearing to be the motive.
