Diplomatic Vehicles Collide in Havana's Vedado Neighborhood

Sunday, June 30, 2024 by Ethan Navarro

Two diplomatic vehicles collided this Sunday in the heart of El Vedado, a central neighborhood in Havana. The incident transpired at the busy intersection of Línea and Paseo.

"Traffic light at Línea and Paseo right now, fortunately, both cars are diplomatic," commented internet user Frank Maceira in the Facebook group "ACCIDENTES BUSES & CAMIONES por más experiencia y menos víctimas!".

The shared photo shows the two vehicles after the collision, with notable damage to their front ends. According to another user, Juan Luis Valdés, who witnessed the incident, one of the cars belongs to the Turkish Embassy and the other to the Russian Embassy.

Valdés recounted that he was standing at Línea and saw everything: both cars were heading down Paseo, and the Turkish vehicle was responsible for the crash by making an illegal left turn.

"The one to blame was the Turkish car for making an illegal left from Paseo to Línea, and the 179, you know where that's from, didn't even brake," he detailed.
