Out of Spain's squad for the Euro Cup and the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics, Íñigo Martínez chose Cuba as his vacation destination to rest and recharge for the upcoming season. The FC Barcelona player was spotted at the Meliá Jardines del Rey Hotel, located in Cayo Coco, north of Ciego de Ávila province, while his future with the club is being decided in Barcelona's offices.
The resort's management announced the arrival of the central defender on Facebook, and Martínez also shared stories on Instagram with the Plaza de la Revolución in the background.
"A challenging season comes to an end, filled with trials, obstacles, and also learning experiences. Matches, training sessions, tough moments... all are opportunities to grow and improve, and that's what I take away from it," he wrote on Instagram a few weeks before landing in the Caribbean.
"Now it's time to rest, gather strength, and face the next season with the greatest excitement. Thank you all for your support, culers," added Martínez, who has a contract with the Blaugranas until 2025, but his presence in the upcoming campaign is not guaranteed.
Cuban fans also interacted with the athlete, and shared their experiences on the social network X.
