Spanish Fruit Vendor Successfully Sells Mamoncillos: "It Was a Struggle to Get Them"

Monday, July 1, 2024 by Hannah Aguilar

A young Spanish entrepreneur who runs a fruit business in Madrid has finally managed to source mamoncillos after much effort, allowing him to sell them at his store. Known as El Frutero Tiktokero on his TikTok account, he shared a video showcasing the clusters of these small fruits. He admitted that he was unfamiliar with the fruit but decided to purchase it to satisfy the requests of many of his customers.

"It was a struggle to get them; they don't allow this product into Europe, and we finally have it here. Look at this wonder," he said before tasting and enjoying its sweetness.

Hundreds of Latin American internet users living in Spain commented that they miss this small fruit, which is abundant in their home countries, and inquired about other cities besides Madrid where it can be found.

El Frutero Tiktokero often shares videos where he proudly displays the fruits he offers, many of which are considered exotic to Europeans. On one occasion, he attempted to cut a guanábana, but his father stopped him, saying it was too expensive. Another time, he tried mamey for the first time, a product he said "was incredibly hard to find."

"It's sweet, with a texture similar to papaya but with a much more intense and pleasant flavor, very juicy. Great discovery, family," he expressed in a video.
