The small puppy rescued this Monday in Mayabeque after being abandoned in a sealed plastic bag, passed away this Wednesday, presumably due to canine distemper. However, as promised by the animal rescue group that tried to save him, the dog left this world surrounded by love.

"I find solace in having done everything possible to save your life. Your final moments were filled with love; your end was not in that bag like trash," expressed a deeply moved activist, Yenney Caballero, on Facebook. "I am deeply sorry for the harm done to you," she lamented.

Appeal for Public Awareness

The activist called for public awareness, urging people to re-evaluate their feelings and values. She expressed her concern for the future of Cuban society, as she believes that many people are lacking in principles and acting irresponsibly.

Caballero reiterated that spaying and neutering is the most effective solution to prevent defenseless puppies from ending up in the hands of irresponsible individuals. She pointed out that many adopt animals on a whim or as toys for children, without considering the responsibilities of caring for a pet, such as vaccinating them and keeping them healthy.

Additionally, she voiced her concern about what happens to pets when they fall ill, as they are often abandoned as if their lives had no value, just like the little puppy that inspired this post, which was thrown away in a sealed plastic bag.

In conclusion, she urged citizens to make responsible decisions when adopting pets and advocated for increased efforts in spaying and neutering campaigns and education on proper pet care.
