Three individuals, including a four-year-old child, lost their lives on Thursday night in a collision between a Yutong bus and a horse-drawn cart in Granma. The accident occurred in the locality of Las Mangas, northwest of the city of Bayamo. The bus was en route from Bayamo to Havana.

According to the "Portal Del Ciudadano Granma" Facebook user in the group "Revolico Bayamo," the three victims, along with a critically injured girl, were traveling in the cart. "Seven people, intoxicated and without lighting, were in the cart. Four people died, including two children. That's what is being said, we are keeping updated!" stated the author of the post.

Several individuals clarified in the post that the deceased count stands at three, not four. An 11-year-old girl, the sister of the deceased young boy, is currently in critical condition with brain death. The two adult victims were brothers, known locally as El Sapo and El Chino, residing in Las Vegas del Río Bayamo.

Apparently, they had picked up a mother and her two children on the road. The woman also sustained injuries but they were not severe. "They say my cousins were drunk, that they were almost home, and that they gave others a ride in the cart. Yes, it was irresponsible not to have any form of lighting, but it wasn’t intentional. Were they entirely responsible for the accident? At what speed was that bus traveling?" questioned the user Ketty León.

"Maybe they did not act prudently, but for everyone to know, both were good people. Like many in Cuba, they suffered from alcoholism, but that didn’t make them bad people, just addicts. The other people in the cart were individuals whom my cousin picked up to help them reach their destination—a kind gesture in my opinion, and it's terribly sad it ended this way," said another comment.
