A fifth individual has been identified among those who perished in a tragic car accident that occurred early last Thursday on the road leading to Santa Lucía Beach in Nuevitas, Camagüey province.

The victim, known on Facebook as Maykel Tope, was actually named Rafael Rodríguez. He was mourned by family and friends on social media.

"I will miss you so much, my love. I will always love you; you were my reason for living, but you left us the most precious thing we have, our princesses who love you so much. I know you will protect us from heaven. I love you so much, my dear," wrote his wife, Linda Bonet, on Facebook.

Her post has drawn comments from many who lamented the loss of this Cuban father. Another user, Sandor Pichardo, also shared heartfelt words about this tragic event, in which four other victims had been previously identified.

"My brother, I still can't believe the news. I only ask God to welcome you into His holy kingdom. Everyone who knew you knows you were a super man, father, and friend. I cherish those memories of when we learned to drive, all the stories we shared in the park when the night was slow. This isn't a goodbye, my bro, but a see you later," he wrote.

Details of the Accident

The accident that claimed Maykel's life occurred in the Las 80 community. The car that struck the young people overturned after the collision, fell into a ditch, and caught fire, resulting in two of its occupants being "burned to death in the explosion," according to CubaNet. Two other individuals in the front seats managed to escape with their lives.

Two of the deceased were immediately identified: 17-year-old Cliver Álvarez Mayo, who died instantly, and 19-year-old Dailenis Silva, who died in the Nuevitas hospital. Both were residents of Manatí in Las Tunas province.

This Friday, the initial identification was expanded to include two more victims: Milagros Hernández, identified by Cubanos por el Mundo, and Yamila Marín, confirmed by CiberCuba. Yamila, known to her friends as "Yami," was a resident of Camagüey and a friend of Milagros.

Rafael was reportedly one of the two severely injured individuals in the accident.

"It was a collision between two cars. One was leaving the beach and crashed into another that was stationary in the opposite lane. I was told the driver had gone to relieve himself," a source told Cubanos por el Mundo.

The car leaving the beach, which crashed into the parked car, caught fire after the accident.

Despite the severity of the incident, neither the authorities nor local media have provided information about the tragic accident, which has shocked residents of both Camagüey and Las Tunas.
