A woman sustained serious injuries after being involved in a traffic accident while riding a Suzuki motorcycle in the city of Santiago de Cuba. The incident occurred at the intersection of Calvario and San Francisco streets in downtown Santiago de Cuba, as reported by independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada.

Sources told the journalist that the accident was caused by an almendrón (a classic American car used as a taxi) running a red light. The motorcycle was carrying only the driver and the woman. "The man suffered only minor scrapes, but the woman broke her arm and was badly injured," they added.

The woman was transported to a nearby hospital, although the specific facility was not mentioned. Images shared from the scene show several bystanders and the motorcycle lodged under the front of the almendrón.

In the comments section, many people expressed concern about the high number of accidents occurring at that intersection. "I’m a motorcyclist too and I recognize that there are a lot of reckless drivers, with and without licenses, pushing their luck. It’s not just on San Francisco Street; precautions must be taken at all intersections," wrote one user.

Another user commented on the street: "San Francisco is the street with the most accidents in Santiago de Cuba. Even with traffic lights, accidents always happen." A woman advised drivers to be more cautious: "This corner is extremely problematic, and drivers know it. Be aware and take better care of your lives," she concluded.

Earlier on Monday morning, a motorcyclist died on Boyeros Avenue in Havana, according to a witness on social media. A friend of the deceased man stated that he was a family man.
