The recent revelation by the Cuban regime about the supposed dismantling of a terrorist plot against the country has unleashed a wave of memes on social media. These memes highlight the absurdity and lack of credibility of some of the arguments presented, including those by the spokesperson who delivered them, Humberto López.

On Monday, the regime attempted to present evidence against a man allegedly trying to destabilize the country after entering the coast of Matanzas on a jet ski. This was discussed during a special program broadcast on National Television on Monday night.

The supposed illegal entry into Cuban territory occurred in November 2023. The regime claimed to have detained a citizen carrying weapons but did not reveal his identity at that time. Now, they have shared statements made by the alleged terrorist.

However, social media users have pointed out contradictions in the statements, the implausibility of the plan, and have also targeted Humberto López, the usual spokesperson for the State Security to relay alleged criminal acts.

“Only the Old School will remember this series full of intrigues and surprises called… Humbrete the Storyteller,” a Facebook user wrote, accompanied by a photo reminiscent of a popular program once aired during vacation periods in Cuba: "The Storyteller."

In addition, drawing from cinema, the program put together by the Ministry of the Interior in collusion with Cuban Television was compared to the "John Wick" movie saga.

There were also memes linking the jet ski to the arrival of the occupants of the yacht Granma in Cuba or to the creator of the phrase “Yo me erizo,” so popular among Cubans.

Woody Alguacil Cubano referred to jet skis at sea, depicting the supposed entry recounted by the regime on Monday.

Moreover, questions remain after the statements made by the accused presented in the program.

Cuban authorities identified Ardenys García Álvarez, 40, originally from Cienfuegos, as the main executor of the alleged destabilizing acts.

Ardenys had a criminal record for speculation and robbery with force. He had illegally left the country in 2014 and had been residing in the United States since then.

Colonel Víctor Álvarez Valle stated on the television program "Razones de Cuba" that the detainee entered Cuba illegally carrying weapons, intending to subvert social order, and that the action was "organized and financed by a group of Cuban terrorists based in the U.S."
