Cuban boxer Yordenis Ugás has voiced his desire for Donald Trump to choose Cuban-American Senator Marco Rubio as his running mate in the upcoming presidential campaign. In his opinion, if Trump wins, he should appoint Rubio as Secretary of State, a position he believes is ideal for him.

"It would be fantastic for me and, I believe, for our country and especially our communities that have suffered, been humiliated, and battered by communism," the boxer stated on his Facebook wall. Ugás praised the Florida representative's political and intellectual readiness, while criticizing Vice President Kamala Harris, stating she holds the position only because she is a woman and black. "She is remembered more for laughing inappropriately than for her work," he added.

The Impact on Dictatorships

"The dictatorships of Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua would be on the ropes. The senator is one of the people who understands these issues and these dictatorships the most. These regimes would fall, and millions of people would return to our countries to try to live not in wealth, but with a bit of dignity," Ugás emphasized.

On a personal note, Ugás expressed his desire to see a vice president of Hispanic heritage in the United States. "And more importantly, because I am 200% pro-Cuban. I will always support my artists, athletes, and community before anyone else. Because our wine is bitter, but it is our wine," he concluded.

In recent months, speculation has grown that former President Trump is considering the Cuban-descended politician as a potential vice-presidential candidate if he wins in November. "We're going to choose someone who is really good, really conservative; loves law and order, low taxes, low-interest rates, and secure borders," Trump stated to Newsmax on March 13.

If Rubio is chosen, they will need to overcome the constitutional prohibition against voting for a president and vice president from the same state. "It makes sense because he checks almost all the boxes, if they can overcome the fact that both are from Florida," a veteran Republican agent from Florida remarked.

In 2000, Dick Cheney, originally from Texas, changed his residence to Wyoming to serve as vice president during George W. Bush's presidency. Rubio, 53, and a third-term senator, has not explicitly communicated his interest in the vice presidency.

The politician, the son of Cuban immigrants, announced his support for Donald Trump's candidacy in the Republican primaries, noting that his leadership is the only way to achieve the "extraordinary actions necessary to solve the disaster" created by Biden. "When Trump was in [the White House], I achieved important policies I had worked on for years (such as the expansion of the Child Tax Credit and tough sanctions on the regimes in Cuba and Venezuela), because we had a President who didn't yield to special interests or allow bureaucrats to block us," he recalled. "It's time to continue the work of defeating Biden and saving America!" he reiterated.
