Frank Abel Admits Past Struggles with Alcohol After Signing with Destino Tolk

Thursday, July 11, 2024 by Daniel Colon

This week, the news broke that Frank Abel has signed a contract with the podcast "Destino Tolk". However, the Cuban broadcaster will have to adhere to certain rules while being part of this collective, leading him to make some personal confessions.

The Dominican influencer Destino Positivo clarified that this is an opportunity for Frank Abel not only to advance his career in Miami and do what he loves but also to thank those who have supported him and prove his critics wrong: "You have to show those people who you really are through your work."

Frank Abel emphasized that his greatest motivations for embarking on this new chapter are his family, especially his mother who has always supported him, and the audience that appreciates his work: "The same purpose I had when I started in radio at 11 years old is the same I have now here at Destino, simply to give the best I can for the people."

"From now on, I don't want you to appear fragile to the public or to certain people who have programs... I don't want you to show weakness to anyone; I want people to see a new person... You have to survive here, the weakest get screwed, those who appear fragile get screwed. In this company, we don't accept weakness; we accept hardworking people," was the second condition Destino Positivo imposed on the broadcaster.

Amid the criticism that Frank Abel has faced, being labeled a drug addict, alcoholic, and problematic, the Dominican influencer made it clear that his company cannot accept individuals who use drugs or set a bad example on the streets: "Your behavior determines your job and your growth."

"I was an alcoholic, I lost programs in Cuba not because I was a snitch or said anything bad to my colleagues, but because I got drunk, fell asleep, and didn't show up. At a certain point, I was unreliable for radio and TV directors. I admit it; I had violent behaviors related to alcohol," the broadcaster confessed and added that he quit drinking after making a promise to San Lázaro and arrived in the United States.

Despite the criticisms Frank Abel has received, many also applaud this new opportunity in Miami and still consider him one of the best Cuban broadcasters.
