Ardenys García Álvarez, recently portrayed by the Cuban regime as a key figure in an alleged terrorist plot against the country, had previously been prosecuted in the United States for human trafficking. This fact, omitted by the Cuban Television report attempting to convince viewers of the supposed terrorist attack, was revealed by the Telemundo network, which accessed federal records placing García Álvarez at the center of a federal criminal investigation in Texas.

The charges in these records, also accessed by CiberCuba, are not directly related to those the regime accuses this Cuban emigrant of. However, it raises questions about the omission of this detail in their so-called "revealing report" presented to their audience after an "exhaustive investigation."

Accused of "conspiracy to transport and harbor migrants" along with four other individuals, García Álvarez has documentation, which remains sealed, in the U.S. Federal Court. This investigation, conducted between September 2021 and May 2023 in New Mexico and Texas, shows that those involved managed a network for transporting foreigners within the U.S., in total violation of the country’s immigration laws.

Ardenys García Álvarez, 40, originally from Cienfuegos, was identified by Havana as a detainee who illegally entered Cuba carrying weapons with the intent to subvert social order, in an action "organized and funded by a group of Cuban terrorists based in the U.S." García Álvarez had left the country illegally in 2014 and had been residing in the United States since then. He had a criminal record for speculation and robbery with force before leaving the island.

In declarations broadcast by Cuban National Television, García Álvarez identified himself as one of the three shooters in the alleged plan. The leader of the group was named as Willy González, along with Jorge Luis Fernández Figueras, who uses the pseudonym "El Lobo."

González, leader of the organization "La Nueva Nación Cubana en Armas," denied from his residence in Orlando any involvement with an armed operation on the island. "Our organization provides military training, but not with subversive objectives," González told Telemundo 51, adding that he does not recall ever meeting García Álvarez.

“We have not conducted any operations in Cuba, and we know nothing about what they are talking about,” Willy González stated. González affirmed that "La Nueva Nación Cubana en Armas" has no plans that involve breaking U.S. laws, although they do wish to be prepared in case of an armed uprising in Cuba.
