The Cuban Minister of Energy and Mines, Vicente de la O Levy, stated that while there has been an improvement in the electrical service, the demand cannot be fully met due to a lack of fuels. In statements cited by the pro-government portal Cubadebate, the official noted that with the completion of most scheduled maintenance, there is a noticeable improvement in the electrical service across the country. However, he clarified that "peak hours cannot always be covered due to the fuel limitations required to support the demand."

He also mentioned that a ship is expected to arrive in the coming days, which will help stabilize the sale of liquefied gas to the population. Meanwhile, journalist José Miguel Solís reported on his Facebook page that the Antonio Guiteras power plant, the largest in the country, is undergoing maintenance after a fuel tank fire a few days ago. Engineers are attempting to "stabilize the industry at 260 megawatts, complete the installation of a new feed pump, and finish draining the damaged tank," he explained.

Roman Pérez Castañeda, the technical deputy director of the island's largest single unit, said the burned tank would be repaired. Amid the fuel and power generation crisis, the regime announced that it would restrict the importation of high-consumption appliances for legal entities on the island and for commercial purposes.

To this end, the National Office for the Rational Use of Energy (Onure) is preparing a new resolution, continuing from two others in effect since 2021 (No. 235 and 236), to prohibit the entry of goods with high specific electricity consumption, according to a report from the official newspaper Granma last week.
