A mother expressed her immense pride as her son, Ián David Lorenzo García, joins the team representing Cuba at the 65th International Mathematical Olympiad in Bath, United Kingdom, which will run until July 21. "So proud of my son, my brave and perseverant warrior, my life!" Miryorly García posted on Facebook while sharing a photo of the Cuban team, consisting of six young talents.

"So proud of this amazing team, all these talented and hardworking kids, they deserve it! Best of luck!" the emotional mother added. The post received widespread acclaim on the social network, with many comments wishing the Cuban youths success and good fortune.

García also shared a video showcasing the official presentation of the Cuban team, which includes Karla Yisel Ramírez Garcel, Ricardo Molano Domínguez, Ailema Matos Rodríguez, Ián David Lorenzo García, Marcel Gámez Salvo, and Damiam Fuentes Campos.

José Raúl Lorenzo Sánchez, father of the young contestant, also expressed his excitement on social media about his son's participation in the prestigious competition. "We are very happy after months of preparation and intensive training to participate in this grand global knowledge event, where more than 700 young people from over 100 countries compete," the proud father noted.

In 2023, Ián David Lorenzo García and Dalia Oliver Ballesteros won silver medals at the 25th Central American and Caribbean Mathematical Olympiad held in El Salvador. Lorenzo and Oliver accumulated 31 and 27 points, respectively, securing the fifth position for Cuba with a total of 58 points, according to the competition's official website.

That same year, two Cuban students earned bronze medals at the 38th Ibero-American Mathematical Olympiad held in Brazil. Karla Yisel Ramírez Garcell and Ricardo Miguel Molano Domínguez were awarded bronze for their performance in the event, which brought together participants from Latin America, Spain, and Portugal.
