Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, a 39-year-old politician, entrepreneur, and author, has been chosen by former President and current Republican candidate Donald Trump as his vice-presidential running mate for the upcoming November 5th election in the United States.

Trump, who survived an assassination attempt during a political rally in Pennsylvania over the weekend, made the announcement on the social media platform Truth Social during the opening day of the Republican National Convention, which began this Monday in Milwaukee. This event will formalize Trump's candidacy for the White House.

"After extensive deliberations and considering the immense talent of many others, I have decided that the most suitable person to assume the role of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance from the great state of Ohio," Trump declared.

Trump praised Vance's educational background, noting that he "earned his bachelor's degree from Ohio State University and graduated from Yale Law School, where he served as an editor of The Yale Law Journal and president of the Yale Law Veterans Association."

During the campaign, Trump stated, they will focus heavily on the people Vance has valiantly fought for, including American workers and farmers in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota, and beyond.

However, as CNN points out, the current Ohio senator was a key voice in the “Never Trump” movement six years ago during the 2016 elections and has a well-documented history of public opposition to the former president. Nevertheless, Vance has now won the favor of the right-wing faction of the Republican Party, including Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., who has featured the Ohio Republican on his podcast and praised him publicly.

In the Senate, Vance has been an outspoken supporter of Trump and often votes in alignment with the former president's interests.
