Diasniurka Salcedo Resumes Hairdressing Career in Miami: "Discounts for 'Patria y Vida' Supporters"

Thursday, July 18, 2024 by Felix Ortiz

Activist Diasniurka Salcedo Verdecia, who left Cuba due to regime harassment, shared on social media this Wednesday the personal achievement of resuming her hairdressing profession in Miami, announcing discounts for her "Patria y Vida" supporters. "Those from 'Patria y Vida' get a discount, seriously!" emphasized Salcedo on Facebook, a platform where she has highlighted the regime's abuses against civilians and herself for several years.

"If you're in Miami and want to get your hair done, message me to schedule an appointment," pointed out the activist, who practiced as a hairdresser in Cuba, a profession she is passionate about and has recently resumed in the United States. "I became a hairdresser because the regime wouldn't let me work in my field of study for thinking differently. I started in a pigsty that I transformed into a humble salon, and now look at me, studying in this great country that is giving me the opportunity to live happily and freely," was an emotional message shared by the activist who has helped many Cubans.

"Where there's a will, there's a way!" was another message Salcedo recently shared on the social network, summarizing her last few months' life in a few words. After managing to leave Cuba, she faced a challenging journey to reach the United States with her family.

Other Cuban Activists Finding Success Abroad

Recently, another Cuban activist showcased how he's achieving his dreams after escaping the Cuban regime. Pedro López shared on social media this Tuesday that he began working as a lathe operator in Germany, a profession he practiced in the Caribbean nation before being forced to emigrate to escape persecution and harassment by the regime.

"Once again doing what I love, thank you Germany," wrote the Cuban on Facebook, who is a relative of political prisoner of 11J Andy García Lorenzo. In 2023, Lorenzo sold his machine shop in Santa Clara to flee the regime's persecution with his family.
